Ellery Designs Monogram Planters FOR SALE!

Get your Monogram Planters – just in time for planting season! We are thrilled to announce we have teamed up with Proven Winners – #1 Plant Brand, and our new Monogram Planters are officially FOR SALE and ready to dress up your front porch! Yay!

First things first, YES! These are even better than our extra-large K you have probably seen on our front porch. Our NEW Monogram Planters are WAY easier to plant and maintain. Available in all 26 letters.

Watch the video

Check out the awesome video by Laura @ Garden Answer below. She greatly explains and shows you how to plant your letter and gives you tips on what size flowers to plant. She’s amazing! All of the beautiful, planted photos on this post are from Garden Answer.

Aren’t they so gorgeous!? Give these a few more weeks and the growth will be amazing and take over your entire letter. Set your letter on your porch, table, lay in a flower bed, or hang on your siding (which is the cleat option). These would make an amazing Mother’s Day gift as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will my Monogram Planter rot? Absolutely not. It is made out of cedar and will last for years to come!
  2. How will this drain when I water my planter? Pre-drilled holes are seen on the back of your letter in each reservoir to allow proper draining.
  3. How do I water my planter? Lay your letter on its back. Water flowers watering can. Let sit for roughly 5-10 minutes to drain and put back in it’s designated location.
  4. What flowers should I use? As Laura mentioned in the video, 4 inch size flowers work great for these. She used pansiolas. What type of flower depends on where you plan to have your letter. If you’re using your planter in the shade, we recommend impatients as they grow rapidly and are easy to maintain.

So what do you think?! Purchase yours HERE. What letter would you choose?! Happy planting!!

DIY Front Door Decoration for Spring!

This blog post is sponsored by Hobby Lobby. The opinions and text are all mine. I’m excited to share with you a very easy and fun DIY front door decoration using fun items I found at Hobby Lobby. Spring is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited! Best news – you can create this for well under $50 and it won’t take up much of your time. YAY!

I love walking around Hobby Lobby and finding an item that inspires me and gets my wheels spinning. I’m loving the fresh look of farmhouse style items and these tobacco baskets are my new favorite go-to decor item. And you can’t beat the price! So, I thought how fun could this be if I decorated it instead of the traditional use of resting on a shelf or simply hung on a wall. My favorite part is that this could be used year round if you simply change out the tulips and carrots for more summer or fall like decor. Not sure about you, but I’m all for a multi-functioning DIY!

Materials + Budget:

  1. Tobacco Basket (50% off Home Decor) $7.49
  2. Green Floral Fern (used my 40% off coupon) $7.19
  3. Faux Flowers (I used one bunch of white tulips for a classic look) $7.99
  4. Over Door Wreath Hanger $2.99
  5. Wood Letters (I spelled out “hello” and painted them white.) .99 each – total $3.96
  6. White Picket Fence $2.99 (includes four pieces)
  7. Burlap Loop Bow $2.99 (found this in the Cards & Party section)
  8. Carrot Bundle (was 40% off Easter decor) $1.79
  9. Hot Glue Gun

TOTAL COST with tax: $40.47.

Note: I originally added a few tulips to the left of the carrots, on the top of the basket, but later removed them as I liked them better on the bottom near the fence as I was going for a more simplistic look. Your options are really endless!

Make your door decoration:

  1. Attach the greenery to your basket by resting inside the weaves. I ripped off sections instead of using the entire piece to make it look more realistic. (You can secure using a hot glue gun if needed but I did not need to do this.)
  2. Attach carrot bundle to top
  3. Attach picket fence (I used two pieces and glued them together) and attach to your tobacco basket using hot glue.
  4. Attach bow to fence using the twisty wire that was already on the bow.
  5. Paint or decorate your letters and adhere to basket using hot glue.
  6. Pluck off flowers and add them in behind the fence to look like a little tulip garden. (Again, you can secure using hot glue, but I did not need to do this. I wasn’t kidding when I said this was a simple project! 🙂
  7. Add door hanger to back of your basket and hang on your door!

So what do you think? I’m all about easy projects and I’m so excited about my new front door decoration! I love the farmhouse vibes and love the low cost even more. Such a fun way to decorate a tobacco basket. Head to Hobby Lobby or simply click on the links above to make yourself a pretty and fun springtime decoration for your front door. Don’t forget to use the coupon below! All you have to do is show the cashier this photo.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Hobby Lobby. The opinions and text are all mine.

{Local Press} Featured in The MidWeek

Hi friends! We were featured in our local newspaper, The MidWeek, today regarding our recent Menards feature video release. The MidWeek featured us in a cover story last October so we were thrilled they wanted to do a follow-up story. So exciting for us to read this and share with our community.

Read the article here.

Hope you enjoy and learn a little more about us and our passion for creating! Menards is truly our home away from home so this opportunity couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Thank you Katrina @ The MidWeek for the great article!

Make it With Menards – Our Featured Video is HERE!

BIG NEWS! Ryan and I were featured makers in a short film shot for Menards “Make It With Menards” series! Cue the confetti! This was filmed back in September and we were blessed to have worked with the BEST production team EVER! THANK YOU to the AMAZING Jason, Mike, Keith, Heather and so many others. We truly had THE BEST DAY and couldn’t have asked for a more supportive, fun and talented crew. Makes me laugh to think about all the celebrities they film and the fact they were at our little house filming us build our monogram planter. UNREAL. They treated Ryan, Cami and I like we were someone special and it made our day and experience even better than we imagined.

Thank you to Menards for choosing us! We had the best experience and love how it came together. Now….PLEASE GO WATCH IT!! 🙂 THANK YOU all SO very much for your support. This video is so very special to us. Dreams do come true – and we are so thankful for this opportunity! Inspiring others is our main goal for our business and we are so honored to share our story.
We would love to hear your feedback – let us know in the comments! My favorite part is obviously the adorable interaction between Ryan and Cami. Melt my heart. We LOVE Menards as it’s our home away from home so this was truly a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget!

 Behind the Scenes….

Below are a few behind the scenes photos that my sister Rebecca of Rebecca Lynne Photography shot that day.

Cami’s Big Girl Room – Details

Thank you Designer Living for sending me these amazing products for review. All thoughts and opinions written are 100% mine.

I’m so excited to share with you today my daughter’s updated Big Girl Room.
My daughter’s newly styled big girl room is so pretty in pink! We recently upgraded from a twin to a queen for her and it makes for a much more comfortable sleep. She’s almost eight and has been begging for a bigger bed and we finally caved. Ryan built the pretty headboard for her, which he found some time to complete so I finally have some pictures of the finished product!

Details

Polka Dots are her favorite so she chose this lovely ruffled comforter from Designer Living. She LOVES the girly ruffles and it’s very comfy too! My favorite thing about Designer Living is that their items DO NOT break the bank! This set is on sale for $59.24 (seen here in purple) and this similar set in pink is only $59.24 as well. We knew when we were re-styling this space we didn’t want to do anything major so her pink walls were staying! I added pops of green as well as an accent for her updated Big Girl Room. These darling polka dot sheets are the perfect match to the comforters.
The reading lounge Caterpillow is her FAVORITE! It’s SO, SO cute and she loves reading on it! It’s on sale for just over $20 bucks! (pillow inserts sold separately.) You just can’t beat that price! I bought super cheap pillow inserts from target to fill, which makes for an adorable and stylish reading nook and even makes reading more fun! Yay! Let me know what you think! Would love to hear your feedback! What is your favorite part of her re-styled big girl room?
I found this “How is it Possible….Little Girls” sign from Hobby Lobby. It’s on sale right now for $13. SCORE! So cute, right? The darling pom-pom garland draped along her bed is also from Hobby Lobby, seen here.

Decorating Your New Home – Styling Ideas

Happy New Year!! I can’t even believe we are beginning a new year already. Time flies when you’re having fun! I love January, but only for the fresh starts and new beginnings. Otherwise I could skip these winter months and move right in to April. 😉 Being able to decorate a new home sure makes me happy and inspired!

Last week, I had the pleasure to help my BFF decorate her new home. I’m in LOVE. Styling is my favorite and I think it turned out great! Her style is trendy, wordy and colorful, which I just love. Check out the photos below and I tried to let you know where everything is from below each photo. Let me know your favorite pieces in the comments or you can always pin your favorites!

As you can see she loves Olivewood Designs, you can see many of her hearts and darling teepee featured in her decor. SO darn cute!

Everything above from Hobby Lobby

Family Heart: Olivewood Designs // Frames: Hobby Lobby

OK, now how darling is this shelfie!? I had SO much fun decorating it. She scored that adorable, distressed shelf at Hobby Lobby last year on clearance.

Aqua Shelf, Adventurers Sign: Hobby Lobby // Teepee: Olivewood Designs // Mini Bowls: Target

Three Tiered Stand: Olde Farm Creek

Let Love Grow Sign, Deer Sign, Clock: Hobby Lobby // Heart: Olivewood Designs // Chicken Wire Frame: Flea Market

M Monogram, Mini Shelf, Be Full of Joy Sign, Love Life Sign: Hobby Lobby // Heart: Olivewood Designs // Flashcard: Barn Owl Primitives

Chair: World Market // Stool & Flower Arrangement: Target

I’m totally obsessed with the above space! Ignore the background, I was too excited to move all the background mess away before taking a picture 🙂 I found that stool for her at Target on clearance for $23.99. Was regularly $80. Score! I love how it looks here and pulls in some of the black from the above wall decor. Her brother came up with the idea of using the frame to put around the thermostat. Done and done! Much of this decor she already had from her previous home but we used it in many different ways for her new home and it looks so cozy and complete! Hope you found some inspiration – which area speaks to your decor loving heart?

Style Your Mantel Like A Pro

Style Your Mantel Like A Pro - Southern Breeze Collections for ellerydesigns.com

Hi! Anna here from Southern Breeze Collections. I always seem to get a lot of compliments from friends and family, when they come into my home, about how they love how I decorate and how it seems that everything is so put together. Well, I’m the first to admit that everything is not always put together! 😉 However, I think there are just a few easy tips that anyone can use to decorate a space and make it look like a photo in a magazine. That’s why I’m so excited to share my top 5 tips to Style Your Mantel Like a Pro!

These tips are specifically for mantel styling, but they would work in other areas too, like shelving and small accent tables. These are my personal favorites and exact steps I use when working in my own home. So, who’s ready to Style Your Mantel Like a Pro? Let’s get started.

  1. Create a focal point – I like to use a mix of a few things. I often use a banner hanging from the front of the mantel along with a sign or maybe a mirror right in the middle of the wall. Our TV hangs above our fireplace (this was not my idea ;)) so I have to get creative with what I can use as a focal point. I either use the banner alone or use a horizontal sign or other object that can fit right under the sound bar that’s connected to our TV. However, if you’re luckier than me and do not have a TV above you’re mantle, go for a large piece like a mirror or some kind of artwork. I just love how an old, chippy window looks in the center of a mantel. Oh, I’m so jealous of you people with free wall space above your mantel. Why did I ever give in to my hubby’s request for the TV on that wall?? 😉
  2. Anchor it with similar height objects towards each end – I almost always use some form of candle sticks on each end of our mantle. However, it’s really fun to play around with other tall objects like vases full of flowers, cotton stems, branches, etc. The items don’t have to match either. As long as the heights are similar on each item it will look unified and anchored. I like more of a symmetric feel to my mantel. This is a good spot to switch it up if you like the asymmetric style. If you want that style, you could use varying height objects and maybe use multiple objects on each side.
  3. Bundle different size objects together – For filler items I like to use a mix of small objects going inward from my tall anchor points (tip #2). These objects can be books, other decor items, small vases/votive holders, etc. For example, during the fall I mix and match different sized pumpkins and pine cones together.
  4. Add a natural element – I like to add some kind of natural element within my mantle style. This can be branches or flowers in a tall vase (tip #2) or something else that’s unexpected. For example, in the spring and even fall, I like to place a small piece of driftwood across the center of the mantel. This really centers everything and brings it together with a touch of nature. I’m also a coastal fanatic so I will take any chance I can get to create a coastal farmhouse feel. During the holidays, I use garland across my mantle. It’s mostly fake, but I have big Leyland Cypress trees in my backyard so I will cut some branches off of those and incorporate those around my garland as well. There are a ton of easy ways to incorporate a natural element into your mantle. So bring a little nature indoors.
  5. Add simple finishing touches – I love to add a lot of candle light to my mantle. Before we hung the TV on that wall I could use all sorts of candles, but I have to be extra careful where I place candles now and cautious of their size. One of my favorite items I have are some metallic votive holders I got from Target. They are the perfect size for tea lights which are small enough that they won’t harm our TV. I also fill in space with other small items if I feel it’s necessary to add a little something extra to the the bundled decor items (tip #3). Overall, I believe less is more so I try not to go too crazy with the finishing touches. A little white space is always good!

Here are some photos of my previous styled mantels for various seasons in my home.
