I couldn’t be more excited to share with you our master bath linen closet makeover along with some organization tips! I need a shirt that says “I just want to organize all the things” because that is pretty much my life. The before is quite interesting isn’t it? Yellow walls and orange storage baskets that were much too small for this space = boring!
Thanks to Target, I was able to organize this space AND make it stylish! My go-to baskets for organizing are these fun (and inexpensive) plastic weave baskets that I bought in gray and white for only $5. I spotted these darling gold lid hobnail jars on clearance and they couldn’t be more perfect to hold our every day items. And I totally realize it’s impractical and silly to have a floral vase in a closet but it sure does make me smile every time I open up that door. It’s my closet and I’ll over-style if I want to. Ha! I truly believe that organizing all the while making things pretty can really help reduce stress. Because nobody wants to be stressed out in their own home, am I right? When I was restyling this space, I ended up throwing out TONS of expired items and things that we never use. It felt good to organize and clean it all up!
Organization Tips
1. Find your storage containers that will fit the space – do not use too small of containers! Our shelves are pretty tall and deep, so I used larger baskets in ours.
2. Choose 2-4 colors for your theme. For our makeover, I used white, gray, wicker and a few shades of blue.
3. A closet can be pretty. Just because nobody else sees this space, doesn’t mean you won’t see it EVERY SINGLE DAY. So why not make it visually appealing too? I know, not practical but it is pretty. You can’t argue me there. 😉
4. Mix your storage containers using different price points. Organizing shouldn’t break the bank. I mix inexpensive containers along with more expensive ones. For instance, the gray and white weave plastic baskets were only $5 while the wicker basket on the ground was $29 (I got it on sale for $14.99 though – SCORE!) I’m all about the dollar store but I will say the quality isn’t as great so I do recommend using a bit higher priced container if you want these to last for years to come. Case in point – my too small, orange bins that I got in the Target dollar spot. They worked for a while, but ultimately didn’t get the job done.
Flooring
Are you ready for this!? I didn’t think so. Yup, our new flooring are PEEL AND STICK WALL TILES from Wallpops. I chose the Sienna pattern for our bathroom because I wanted to bring in some color with the added blues and gray tones in this tile since our bathroom is mostly neutral colors of gray, white and gold. I’m totally digging this color combo – but what do you think? They are water resistant and built to last so I’m so excited about this MUCH cheaper flooring options. Hello $100 floors compared to new flooring that would have cost probably $1,000 if I would have paid someone to do it. No thanks!
