One of my daughter’s little friends turns three tomorrow (I should say TODAY though since I’m writing this the night before it’ll be up). His mom watches Cami once a week and it happens to be his birthday so of course we have to make cupcakes! I decided to spice it up a bit and send them along in style. Thought I would show you this SUPER easy way of making your treats look cute and guess what?! You will be able to download these files for FREE next week to make your own cupcake toppers. There will be a few different versions, but they will all have the generic “Happy Birthday!” in an array of color schemes! Stay tuned!
Now….for the goodies! First, I had a couple of extra polka dot gable boxes laying around so figured they would be perfect to transport the cupcakes. I bought these from Shop Sweet Lulu, which is my absolute FAVORITE shop to purchase party decor. Head on over there…you’ll be instantly hooked and the best part is everything ships out ridiculously fast. I also had the tissue paper fringe laying around (also from Shop Sweet Lulu) so adhered it around the box for an added touch.
{Side note…I did this project on a whim so I took all of the photos quickly on my iPhone and edited them in Picnik. If you don’t know what Picnik is all I can say is, sorry! You better get your butt over there like now. I’m the furthest thing from being a photographer and need all the help I can get so using picnik to edit helps out tremendously.
I then used my 2 inch scalloped circle punch to punch out my toppers.
I used some stripey paper straws (Shop Sweet Lulu) I had laying around and cut them in half to use as my base for the toppers. I normally use white craft sticks or the craft wood sticks (look similar to toothpicks) but thought these would be way cuter 🙂
Taped the straw to the back of the topper. I normally use 1 inch white circular labels from Office Max to adhere on the back, but since these straws are a bit bigger I just simply used some tape.
Insert your completed topper in the cupcake and voila!
Six pretty cupcakes sitting in a Gable Box….
I added a little tag on the front to personalize it….which will also be available as FREE a free download next week. Are you excited?!
I mean really, how easy is that? Perfect idea for your kids to take to school for their birthday’s, playdates, girls nights, or bring to the office for a co-worker’s birthday or luncheon. Quick, fun and you’ll look like you spent some time on something that took five minutes. I hope you try this for your next get-together and if you do send me your photos! Happy cupcaking! 🙂
